Nikos D. Tsonis focuses exclusively on real property tax assessment appeals – primarily for commercial and industrial properties. He has particular expertise with petitioning for certificates of error (refunds) for tax overpayments in prior tax years. He gets great satisfaction from lowering the property tax bill of clients, as well as sending them refunds for past overpayments.
Prior to founding Tsonis & Associates, Mr. Tsonis practiced tax appeal and assessment law at the Relias & Tsonis, LLC. Mr. Tsonis has also practiced corporate transactional law at Wilmer Hale LLP and Goodwin Procter LLP in Boston, Massachusetts where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and venture capital financings. These transactions often involved large national real estate investment trusts.
Mr. Tsonis obtained a B.A. in philosophy cum laude from Yale University. He obtained his J.D./M.B.A. degree cum laude from Boston University.
He is an active Counsel Member of the Hellenic American Leadership Counsel and a Board Member of the Hellenic Professional Society of Illinois. He has run for the political office of Trustee of Wheeling Township and enjoys helping various candidates in their campaigns for political office.
Bo Turek is the chief analyst at Tsonis & Associates. His duties include conducting ad valorem analysis and preparing valuation appeals of real property, as well as marketing and valuation trend analysis. He also files certificates of error in order to obtain retroactive tax refunds for over-assessed properties.
Prior to joining Tsonis & Associates, Mr. Turek served as a paralegal for Relias & Tsonis, LLC where he organized and maintained a comprehensive network of clients and was responsible for obtaining property tax refunds for property owners.
Mr. Turek received his Bachelor of Arts in International Political Economy, with minors in Chinese Language & Culture and Economics, from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
Mr. Turek is a Chicago native who has served for five summers as a lifeguard on Lake Michigan. He provides pro bono college entrance examination tutoring to students in the Chicago area.
Selina Arceo is a senior tax analyst with Tsonis & Associates. Ms. Arceo analyzes property assessments and prepares appeals to lower property assessments and to obtain tax refunds for clients. She prepares appeals at both the county as well as state levels.
Ms. Arceo obtained her B.A. from Northwestern University in 2017. Her degree was in Human Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Ms. Arceo has volunteered with Our Place of New Trier where she worked with teens and adults with developmental disabilities to help them learn valuable social and life skills. She is currently working to obtain a master’s degree in Speech Pathology.
Matthew Moresi joined Tsonis & Associates as a tax analyst. Mr. Moresi researches and analyzes properties to find savings opportunities for potential clients. He also prepares tax appeal briefs and property tax refund applications.
Mr. Moresi graduated with a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2016 with a degree in English, specializing in Creative Writing.
While attending university, he served on the editorial board of the school’s literary magazine and was on the Dean’s List.
Outside of work, Mr. Moresi’s interests include reading, playing the guitar, and listening to podcasts.
Patrick Lansdale joined Tsonis & Associates, LLC in 2018 as a tax analyst. Mr. Lansdale analyzes property value assessments in order to achieve reductions and tax savings for the firm’s clients.
Prior to working for Tsonis & Associates, Mr. Lansdale held the position of Development Coordinator for A Safe Haven, a Chicago non-profit that supports the city’s homeless population. In the summer of 2017, he helped organize their largest annual fundraiser, the 5K Run to End Homelessness, an event which raised over $100,000 and had over 1,000 registered participants.
Mr. Lansdale completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 2018 from Northwestern University, where he studied Cognitive Science & American History.
Mr. Lansdale’s personal interests include real estate, twentieth-century American History, and volunteer work at food pantries in Chicago. He aspires to attend law school and become a tenants’ rights attorney.
Mr. Sajkich graduated with Distinction from Indiana University in 2018 with a B.A. in Political Science and Religious Studies. He was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha and Theta Alpha Kappa, the national honor societies for Political Science and Religious Studies, respectively.
Outside of the office, Mr. Sajkich has an interest in history and is an avid sports fan.
